The Scotts Company Professional Business Group announced the addition of Kim Moore and Cameron Smith to its sales team. Moore will be territory manager for Colorado, Iowa, Southern Illinois, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, North Dakota, Nebraska and South Dakota. Smith will be territory manager for Northern California, Hawaii, Northern Nevada and Utah. Moore has a bachelor???s degree in horticulture from Iowa State University and Smith has a bachelor???s degree in agricultural and environmental science and management from the University of California-Davis.
The Scotts Company Professional Business Group is also pleased to announce the promotion of Ryan Lewis to Marketing Manager for its water-soluble fertilizers. Lewis, who has a bachelor of science degree in business administration with an emphasis in marketing from Fisher College of Business at Ohio State University, will be responsible for all water soluble fertilizer product lines.
PGA TOUR Design and Construction Services, Inc. announced recently that it has promoted Brad Nestor (RLA, ASLA) to manager of site planning and design. Nestor, a licensed landscape architect, is a graduate of Purdue University and the University of Georgia. He has over 15 years of experience, most recently in site planning and landscape architecture for Tournament Player???s Clubs (TPC) golf courses.
Rain Bird Corporation announced the winners of the 2007 Intelligent Use of Water Film Competition. Rain Bird presented filmmaker Sergio Cannella with the Judges Award for the film Carpa Diem. Shalini Kantayya was presented the Audience Choice Award for the film A Drop of Life. The film competition gives both amateur and experienced filmmakers the opportunity to display their talents and encourage greater awareness of intelligent water use.
Target Specialty Products recognized account representatives Larry Durant and Nancy Voorhees for earning International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) certification. Both completed the ISA exam to become certified arborists. Durant has been with Target for seven years and Voorhees has been with Target for 19 years.

The American Society of Concrete Contractors (ASCC) recognized Concrete Contractors with exemplary safety records at the association???s Annual Conference on Sept. 13. C.F. Jordan, El Paso Tex. and Walbridge Concrete Services, Detroit, Mich. received the inaugural W. Burr Bennett Awards for Safety Excellence. The awards acknowledged one general contractor and one specialty contractor that placed the highest priority on safety.
Vermeer Manufacturing Company announced that two members of the Vermeer family???s third generation, Allison Van Wyngarden and Allison Van Wyngarden have recently joined the company. Andringa joined the company in 2005 as an environmental solutions segment manager. Van Wyngarden joined the company in 2007 as an industrial distribution manager. Both come to Vermeer with extensive education and industry experience. Vermeer family members must follow a rigorous process in order to join the company.

Corona Clipper Inc. and The Professional Landcare Network (PLANET) announced they have teamed up to create a training manual and DVD about the art of pruning trees and shrubs. The DVD and accompanying manual will focus on shrubs and tress less than 15 feet tall and demonstrate specific pruning techniques with an emphasis on safety.
The Irrigation Association recently announced that Gershon Eckstein and Fred Hamish have been named recipients of Irrigation Association Industry Achievements Awards. They will receive the awards on Dec. 10, at the international Irrigation Show in San Diego. The awards recognize the achievements of an individual who has contributed to the advancement of irrigation. Eckstein of Drip Irrigation Systems Ltd., is credited with numerous irrigation patents including an integrated dripper, which changed the drip irrigation market. Hamisch is a founding member of the Irrigation Dealers Association of California.
