Future Purchases
Even though the vast majority of LC/DBM readers own mowers, blowers, edgers and sprayers, they were among the top targets of acquisition in the next couple of years indicating that a lot of them replace or upgrade these items every few years or that after riding out the economic slump, it's now finally time to buy.

As for big-ticket future purchases:
Standard Pickups: 48.1%
Trailers: 44.3%
Dump Trucks: 40.5%
Ride-on Mowers: 39.2%
Compact Loaders: 32.9

MEP (Most Expensive Piece of Equipment)
From backhoes, excavators and cranes to walk-behind mowers, the responses here varied widely with only two clear winners:
Loaders: 28.3%
Trucks: 23.9%

Equipment Owned
Besides walk-behind mowers (72.5%), blowers (71.3%), backpack sprayers (69.6%), trimmers (68.1%), and edgers (66.7%), the most common small pieces of equipment owned by LC/DBM readers are:
Rototillers: 53.7%
Masonry Saws: 46.4%
Trenchers: 35.3%
Chippers: 29%

46.4% own design software
24.6% own time management software

Rent or Lease?
Leasing is not a popular option with LC/DBM readers as as very few indicated they leased any of the 28 options listed in the survey.

Renting however is popular. The top rented items are:
Trenchers: 21.7%
Stump Grinders: 20.3%
Backhoes: 18.8%
Full-size Skid Steers: 14.5%
Tractors: 14.5%
