Skatepark Builder Comes To The Rescue of At-Risk Neighborhood

In September of 2008, Spohn Ranch Skateparks, a Los Angeles-based skatepark construction and design firm, presented the city of Wilmington, California with a grant of $100,000 for a new concrete skatepark.

?EUR??,,????'?????<

Wilmington, California, located just outside of Los Angeles, is ranked one of the most dangerous communities in the United States due to strong gang activity and a violent crime rating almost three times the national average. For the youth in this community, staying out of trouble and not being distracted by illicit activities was a real challenge. Well aware of the community?EUR??,,????'?????<




Maxwell Billieon, entertainment executive, speaks to thousands of skaters, parents, and community members that gathered at the Ambassador Skate Plaza, as it came to be called, to celebrate the huge victory for the city of Wilmington and its vulnerable youth.
