On the cover:
Bluestone flagging, fieldstone, and indigenous rock accentuate this multi-level outdoor retreat in a historic Hudson Valley town. Water from a rock waterfall spills into the upper pool before flowing into the lower one.

Features
  • Fire & Water
TDH landscaping of Monkton, Md., fashioned eight basalt columns into an impressive fountain with a ninth one providing the flames for the enjoyment of the homeowners, who commisioned several pieces of artwork to further accent this attention-grabbing feature.

  • H2O My! – The Complex Landscape of Water Supply and Demand
LC/DBM takes a look at the past, present and future of water in this country including the interstate legal battles, federal rules and regulations, our aging delivery system, cross-country pipelines, the impact of landscape irrigation, the roles of conservation, desalination, rainwater capture, and artificial turf, and more.

  • A Hidden Oasis
At a weekend home in Red Hook, N.Y., Elite Landscaping designed and installed a secluded swimming and lounging area on a hill behind the house. The pool with its three sections: lower, upper, and shallow underwater patio, was built into a natural rock formation, and the resulting boulders were placed as accents throughout the site.
