Janet Moyer Landscaping?EUR??,,????'?????<???EUR?s executive vice president Micheal Hofman recently completed the California Landscape Contractors Association (CLCA) Water Management Certification Program.
The program is designed to create California landscape contractors highly proficient in smart irrigation technologies and installations. The process begins with studying for and passing a written test before moving into a field phase. At this point, full certification requires demonstrated proficiency in CLCA standards for a full year on actual installations.
The CLCA claims many Californians overwater landscapes by over 50 percent, a draining tool on natural resources for a state with large desert expanses. Other benefits according to the association include reduced water bills for property owners, increased landscape health if the systems are properly installed and maintained, increased hardscape longevity (from reduced overspray erosion) and increased property values.
Overwatering can be particularly expensive, with the CLCA claiming some areas charge up to $14 per 100 cubic feet.
Information for obtaining certifications may be found at www.clca.us/water/memOnly/mem.htmlm. John Moore can also be reached on the matter at (775) 225-7346.
