A Helping Hand With A Green Thumb

Paul Puletti, principal at LaBelle High School (about 25 miles east of Ft. Myers, Fla.) knew his campus needed a makeover. Then one day he saw his dream landscape taking shape at a 1,456-acre community along the Orange River near Fort Myers.

The project?EUR??,,????'?????<

Principal Puletti met with Mitch Hutchcraft, regional vice president for The Bonita Bay Group, to discuss his vision for a revised landscape plan for the high school. Hutchcraft, a registered landscape architect, committed company resources to create a plan for the school that would incorporate xeriscape principles to reduce irrigation needs and plantings that require minimal maintenance.

The total value of the design work, plant supplies and installation was close to $40,000, according to The Bonita Bay Group?EUR??,,????'?????<

As part of its commitment to the project, The Bonita Bay Group also helped underwrite the cost of the plants and materials. ?EUR??,,????'?????<

On August 4, a team of volunteers descended on the high school for a two-day effort to bring the landscape plan to life. According to Puletti, the school?EUR??,,????'?????<

The high school campus dates to 1977, with about 940 students currently enrolled.
