Florida Event Mixes LAF and Charity

Temperatures in the mid-80s paired up with tropical humidity for a steamy and unseasonable (even for south Florida) Landscape Architecture Foundation Benefit Dinner this year.

The event?EUR??,,????'?????<

The Sunset Samba fundraiser helped inject close to $50,000 into foundation coffers. The money will help support the non-profit group?EUR??,,????'?????<

More than 100 guests paid $175 a plate to attend the event, with corporate sponsors adding thousands of dollars more. The biggest gifts came from EDSA and Landscape Forms, with EDAW, ONA, Hunter Industries, L.M. Scofield and Meisner + Associates contributing more to the total. Additionally, Landscape Architect M. Ann Mullins, FASLA, gave a separate gift of more than $1,000.

The Samba was more than a fundraiser, however. It ?EUR??,,????'?????<

With the ASLA meeting bringing landscape architects from across the country (and increasingly, from around the world) together, the event is also a good place to get some business done. October saw LAF turn the leadership position over from Phil Arnold of L.M. Scofield Company to Leonard ?EUR??,,????'?????<

Hopper served as ASLA president in 2001 and presided over the difficult decision to cancel that year?EUR??,,????'?????<
