Giving back to the communities it serves has been an integral part of Carol R. Johnson Associates?EUR??,,????'?????<???EUR? core mission statement since Carol R. Johnson, FASLA founded the firm in 1959. To support its community outreach mission and to acknowledge the firm?EUR??,,????'?????<???EUR?s 50th anniversary this year, landscape architects in CRJA?EUR??,,????'?????<???EUR?s Boston and Knoxville offices are engaged in a number of pro bono community outreach efforts.
Knoxville is one of 37 municipalities in Tennessee with ?EUR??,,????'?????<?Tree City USA?EUR??,,????'?????<? designation from the National Arbor Day Foundation. To help assure that Knoxville maintains this designation, Carol R. Johnson Associates assisted the Legacy Parks Foundation in creating the Legacy Tree Fund, which is providing a vehicle for citizens, corporations and organizations to increase and enrich tree-planting activity and make Knoxville a greener community.
Additionally, in partnership with donations of 25 urban-tolerant trees from Moon?EUR??,,????'?????<???EUR?s Tree Farm and tree care materials from DeepRoot, Cortese Tree Specialists and John Deere Landscapes, CRJA contributed $4,000 to jump-start the Fund. The first 25 Legacy Trees were installed on February 25th and another 25 will be installed in Spring 2010.
