Mesa Parks really wanted its new playground to stand out, to present kids with something special and spectacular, not just your commonplace playground. Andrea Moore of Mesa Parks & Rec felt what the playground needed was a tall net climber. She contacted Rob Lockhart, CCPI, CPS, of Dynamo Industries, a playground manufacturer out of Rockland, Ontario, Canada that specializes in rope climbers.

Parent's Inspiration for an Accessible Playground Fulfilled by Tatum's Garden
Tatum's Garden, a custom-designed, fully-accessible, inclusive playground was brought to life through the efforts of Shawn and Amanda Bakker, the design firm Leathers and Associates, and the community of Salinas, Calif. Leathers and Associates has 40 years of experience creating custom-designed playgrounds, zoos, science centers and community gathering places.

Swiss Family Robinson Meets Urban Jungle
Las Vegas residents were excited to learn something completely different was proposed for the community"?uDowntown Container Park. Situated in old Vegas at the southeast corner of Fremont and 7th, the project came together when a passionate group of people (Downtown Project) dedicated their time and efforts to help the community.

Northwoods Park Inclusive Playground

Northwoods Park has hosted national wheelchair softball championships. As the fields draw children with physical challenges, the city decided to update a nearby two decades old playground. The new playground has 43 play pieces manufactured by BCI Burke Company, who worked side-by-side with the landscape architect.

Hawks Hollow at Park Farm
More than two years of design and construction on an acre of repurposed prairie at the Peck Farm campus in Geneva, Ill., became the home to Hawks Hollow Nature Playground, an interactive play area with a splash pad, net climbers, a wading stream, and eight learning stations that highlight native bird, tree and bug species.

All Access Fun: Meadow Crest Playground/Design Concepts
The city of Renton, Wash., and the Renton School District replaced two small playgrounds with a fully accessible site. Design Concepts, a Colorado-based firm, incorporated custom amenities for ages 2 to 12, including multiple play structures, climbers, steppers, spinners and swings.

A Stroll through Shady Lane Park for a Community Building
NRPA's Parks Build Community program, Houston Parks and Recreation Department, Houston Parks Board, and nearly a dozen partners came together to build a bayou inspired playground to engage and teach children about their environment.
