Has it really been a year since San Jose? It seems like just last month we were saying ?EUR??,,????'?????<?hey?EUR??,,????'?????<? to all of you at the ASLA annual meeting, looking forward to the year ahead, and making plans to see you all again for Halloween in New Orleans . . . Well, guess what . . . next year is here and either you are receiving this issue with about two weeks to go to the big event, or you are in the Big Easy picking up the issue from LASN?EUR??,,????'?????<???EUR?s booth #1128. If you?EUR??,,????'?????<???EUR?re not at the show, you can thumb through the publication to see the great work being done in and around bayou country. You will also find things to do, meeting schedules, and the list of exhibitors showing their wares. ?EUR??,,????'?????<??????? We had great participation from ASLA this year and you?EUR??,,????'?????<???EUR?ll want to read the ?EUR??,,????'?????<?Year in Review?EUR??,,????'?????<? from ASLA?EUR??,,????'?????<???EUR?s Executive V.P. Nancy Somerville on page 164. ?EUR??,,????'?????<??????? A great big ?EUR??,,????'?????<?Congratulations?EUR??,,????'?????<? to this year?EUR??,,????'?????<???EUR?s inductees into the Council of Fellows! Turn to page 138 to see the current list, complete with photos and what I think is some of the best reading in the issue. Every year we ask the Fellows to add a comment to their profiles and this year the 35 inductees provided some of the best, most insightful quotes we have ever published. I applaud the diversity and forward thinking of these great professionals. Their comments are definitely worth the few minutes it takes to read them . . . Also . . . if you haven?EUR??,,????'?????<???EUR?t already added your congratulations to the Fellows at landscapearchitect.com, we have updated their profiles. A little LASN controversy at this year?EUR??,,????'?????<???EUR?s show. For the past couple of years ASLA staffers have been following LASN staffers around the show, interrupting conversations and generally harassing us in an attempt to stop our clients, potential advertisers and you from being exposed to LASN. Although the ASLA is making great strides in bringing the Society up to par with the rest of the association world, they still have a few kinks to work out . . . So if you see someone in a long trench coat circling you when in conversation with an LASN?EUR??,,????'?????<???EUR?er, please be patient, we can only change so much so fast . . . ?EUR??,,????'?????<??????? On another note . . . Requiring licensure for full ASLA membership should be a topic for debate in the halls and corners of the meeting. LASN has opened a forum at landscapearchitect.com and looks forward to providing a central location to discuss the pros and cons in the open market.
