LASN is pleased to announce the addition of Stephen Kelly to the editorial staff as managing editor.

Steve was the managing editor of MPAMedia, an alternative health care publisher that produced the top trade publications for the chiropractic, acupuncture and massage/spa therapy professions, health care textbooks, and research newsletters.

As our new managing editor, Steve will be responsible for directing the editorial content and overseeing the technical quality of the editorial in LASN and Landscape Contractor National, including new material on landscapearchitect.com.

I hope you will notice (especially in my dyslexic column) an improvement in the spelling, grammar and content of these magazines.

Interest rates and housing starts . . .
Well, interest rates are going up a little . . . It had to happen sometime. On a national average, housing prices have dropped slightly. This is known as checks and balances. However, in places like Orange County, California (home of LASN) housing prices have continued to rise.

Even if interest rates continue to rise, unless of course they rise astronomically, the demand for housing will continue to increase. I believe prices will slow a little but continue on an upward climb as demand from the growing population keeps the market strong for the next several years. Then again . . .

Did any of you hear Alan Greenspan comment on the possibility of U.S. economic deflation. Using terms like ?EUR??,,????'?????<

Is it really that bad if your revenues go down and your profits go up?
