A special welcome to every Licensed Landscape Architect. in Washington, Oregon, Nevada and the great state of Texas! You are joining every Licensed Landscape Architect in Arizona and California in forming our exclusive readership. The purpose of The Landscape Architect and Specifier News is to keep you informed of what is happening in your industry. It is our intent to supply you with news about your associations, introduce to you new and available products, and keep you abreast of outsidefactors working for and against you. For example... how many of you have heard of theCLASS Fund? In my opinion the CLASS Fund (Committee, for Landscape Architectural Student Scholarship Fund) is one of the most active and worthy associations in the industry. Give us a call and we?EUR??,,????'???ll tell you more about it. On the other side, is a bill currently in front of the San Diego City Commerce that would standardize all landscaping in the city. If passed there would be city wide standards set by local Landscape Contractors that would limit the amounts and varieties of plant material, paving material, and other amenities specified into the project. This bill would seriously limit the creative endeavors of the Landscape Architect. In essence there would be no real need to hire a Landscape Architect other than to place the standard plants in nice standard places. The (the proponents) are already talking about pushing this standardization into surrounding areas like Arizona, Nevada, Southern California and anywhere else they can. Its up to you. Should we lobby against it or just let it ride? The Landscape Architect and Specifier News is also interested in you! We?EUR??,,????'???d like to hear from you about your projects (notice the Landscape of the Month), your opinions (i.e. should the state have greater authority in enforcing licensing codes), or just about whatever you feel is of interest to your peers. As you read through the pages, you?EUR??,,????'???ll come across a story about Raymond E. Page who at 90 years old holds the #2 License in the Country. You?EUR??,,????'???ll also come across our ?EUR??,,????'??Remember When?EUR??,,????'??? column written by one of the ?EUR??,,????'??good ole boys?EUR??,,????'??? Bob Stover. We invite all of you to send in your reminiscence and see if we can stir up some of those memorable moments. Most of all we want you to know that our door is always open and our phone connections are clear so reach out and help us keep this the best industry under the heavens. ?EUR??,,????'??+God Bless George Schmok, Publisher
