For those of you fortunate enough to be in Orlando for the Annual ASLA National Conference, we hope your day has been fruitful. We also hope that we have the opportunity to meet you somewhere around the convention floors. By now, your feet must be tired and you’re probably ready to grab some dinner. To make sure you don’t get lost in the city, you can take this copy of of LASN with you and use the map of Orlando (see page 15) as a guide. You’ll also find a schedule of events on the pages before the map.

Since you’re sitting down, you may want to take a few moments and read about some of the finer projects of the Southeastern United States. About this time last year, David Linstrum, a Floridian Landscape Architect, writer, and model plane enthusiast, visited our offices in Santa Ana. Among other things we discussed the upcoming ASLA Convention inOrlando and our editorial focus for the Show Issue. From that visit Dave set himself the task of searching out some ofthe finer projects in his area. As publisher of LASN, I would like to thank David Linstrum for helping us to put together what we called the “Southeastern Seven” starting on page 28.

At this time, I invite all of you to put your hands together and give a big LASN welcome to the new 1990 ASLA President, Gerald Patten. We look forward to another great year of growth and accomplishments for the ASLA. I also would like to commend Brian Kubota for completing an outstanding year as 1989 President. Good luck, and best wishes to Mr. Patten, Mr. Kubota, and the ASLA
