The Landscape Architect and Specifier News
Leads the Way . . . Again

By George Schmok

The Landscape Architect and Specifier News was the first magazine to compile a complete list of licensed Landscape Architects in the United States. The Landscape Architect and Specifier News was the first to publish a hands-on trade journal specifically for the profession of Landscape Architecture. Now The Landscape Architect and Specifier News is the first magazine to back up their accuracy with more than words!!!

As we at The Landscape Architect and Specifier News enter our fifth year (has it been that long?) of publication its hard not to look back and compare what we were to what we are now. Throughout the years LASN has enjoyed the support and criticisms of many a learned professional. Its true, we have made some mistakes. We’ve even misspelt the occasional word here and there. We appreciate your patience!

We have however, because of your input, installed several measures to increase our efficiency and accuracy. That is why we are now (with the November/December issue) offering a reward to anyone who can find an error in our magazine. That’s right…. to the first person who notes an error in either spelling or accuracy LASN will reward that person or persons $5.00 per error found.

This is not a publicity thing. Instead it is designed to show you that we are serious about providing the Licensed Landscape Architect with accurate and useful information regarding the practice of Landscape Architecure.

Go ahead. Give it a try. Read through our pages. If you are the first to recognize an error the $5.00 is yours. At the very least you may pick up a tip or two. In any event, I don’t think we’ll be giving away much. If we do we’ll print the names and error in subsequent issues.

Read The Landscape Architect and Specifier News. Find out the difference between an unqualified landscape designer and a licensed Landscape Architect. Learn about the products, techniques and business of Landscape Architecture. Read about your peers. Enjoy the security of knowing that you are on the forefront of your profession.

To those at the ASLA Annual Meeting in Seattle . . . a pleasant hello. To those who missed the meeting, maybe we’ll see you at The L.A.T.E. Show ‘89, at the Irvine Hilton and Towers, August 25-27, 1989.

Until then, have a terrific holiday season and see ya next year. GS

P.S. A big LASN welcome to the registered Landscape Architects in British Columbia and Alberta, Canada
