It took about the same amount of time for the Miami Vice look to reach California as is has for The Landscape Architect and Specifier News to reach Florida. But alas, it’s here! We should all give a big sunbelt welcome to all the registered Landscape Architects in the State of Florida. They, or you, as the case may be, have just joined 4200 other licensed/registered Landscape Architects in receiving this publication. For the benefit of the new comers let me go over what we’re all about. The Landscape Architect and Specifier News is a trade publication. This means that our circulation is controlled or in other words free to licensed, or as in some states registered, Landscape Architects. Anybody else who wants the magazine must pay for it. We don’t hail to any particular association because we support every group, association, or organization that works for the betterment of the profession. We feel that this gives us the ability to offer you more complete and well-rounded information. Our editorial format concentrates on the business of being in business as a Landscape Architect. While we do have the Landscape of the Month which highlights one project each month we try to leave the design work up to you. Our main focus is on topics such as liability insurance, writing a good contract, establishing new business, seminars and lectures, and the availability of new products. We also like to hear from you. No matter where you are we respect and value your input. Our main support currently comes from the West and Southwest. This is due to our familiarity with the people in these places. Now that the magazine reaches the East Coast we hope that you out there will reach out and give us a call or write us a letter. We are looking forward to covering your events and your marketplace as well as visiting your respective areas several times a year. I hope all you local people don’t think we are abandoning you. We definitely are not!!! But more and more we are finding that Landscape Architects and Landscape Architectural firms are working throughout the United States and not just in their localized communities. We hope that the people in Florida and Texas will be able to use the information about the LA’s in Washington and California as much as we hope the people in Oklahoma and Oregon will benefit from exposure to your peers in Arizona and Colorado. The Landscape Architectural Profession is built around outstanding people making an impact on the environment. We are here and at your service. ?EUR??,,????'??+God Bless George Schmok, Publisher
