Rhodeside & Harwell, an award-winning landscape architecture and planning practice with headquarters in the Washington, D.C., area, has promoted three of the firm's senior staff. Kurt Parker, an associate principal and landscape architect, has been promoted to shareholder with the firm. He joined Rhodeside & Harwell in 1994 and has overseen major projects for the firm. Parker holds a bachelor of landscape architecture and a minor in horticulture from Iowa State University.
Meredith Judy, AICP, LEED AP, a planner with 13 years of experience, has been named an associate principal. She has managed several major transportation planning initiatives for the firm, including the award-winning Urban Development Areas technical assistance program for the Virginia Department of Transportation. Judy holds a master's degree in city planning from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a bachelor's degree in environmental analysis from Davidson College.
Thomas Rainer has also been named an associate principal. A landscape architect with 12 years of experience, he has led the landscape design for many major projects for the firm. Rainer is currently overseeing development of the master plan for the Journey Through Hallowed Ground Living Legacy project from Gettysburg to Charlottesville and landscape architecture for a new apartment building in Bethesda for the Lenkin Company.
PBR Hawaii promoted landscape architect Stan Duncan from executive vice president to president. As president with 35 years of experience, Duncan will continue to serve as the lead landscape architect for a wide variety of landscape architectural design projects in Hawaii, with increased emphasis on client development, project management and marketing. Duncan will also be responsible for maintaining the firm's standards of exceptional landscape architectural design and planning work. His current projects include various Honolulu Rapid Transit Corridor projects including; Transit Stations at East Kapolei, UH West O"ahu and Ho"opili.
O'Boyle, Cowell, Blalock & Associates celebrated a long history of Placemaking, as 2014 marked the 50th year in business for a premier landscape architecture firm in the southwest Michigan region. Founded in 1964, OCBA's staff of landscape architects has provided site design expertise for park, camp, urban design, institutional, and master planning projects throughout Michigan and beyond. "OCBA's 50-year history of bringing talented professionals together to do great work that exceeds our client's expectations has laid the groundwork for the future direction of the firm," said Ken Peregon, CEO. "As we move into our next half-century in business the focus will be on creating even stronger relationships with both clients and colleagues to position OCBA as a leader in the landscape architecture profession."
Wood+Partners Inc., a regional land planning and landscape architecture firm, recently added staff in its Hilton Head Island office in South Carolina. Joe Barge, LEED green associate, joined the firm as a project planner. He received a bachelor's degree in Landscape Architecture from the University of Georgia. The firm also has offices in Tallahassee, Fla. It integrates sustainable design practices to create places that enhance the quality of life.
Joan Macleod received ASLA-Minnesota Chapter first Support of Emerging Professionals Award in recognition of her extensive recruitment and mentorship efforts within the landscape architecture profession. Macleod, a landscape architect with Damon Farber Associates, has done significant work in cultivating new leaders, including laying the groundwork for Women in Landscape Architecture-Minnesota and its student leadership award and scholarship.
Water Harvesting Solutions added Don Barclay as manager of engineering and operations. An engineer with over 25 years of experience in water treatment system design, Barclay will apply his expertise to the customized commercial rainwater and greywater harvesting systems that Wahaso delivers to its clients. He earned a B.S. in chemical engineering at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute, Ind.
Mahan Rykiel Associates, a Baltimore-based landscape architecture, urban design and planning firm, announced that Mark Pelusi, PLA is joining the staff as associate principal. He will join the mixed use/hospitality studio, guiding the vision of the design, overseeing project management and helping to create and maintain long term client relationships. A registered landscape architect and graduate of Penn State University, Pelusi has worked on such high profile projects as Judiciary Square in Washington D.C. and the National Museum of the United States Army.
Christopher Larson made sales manager of Berkshire Earthwings, a tree stake manufacturer and retailer. In addition to his extensive background in sales and management, Chris has worked in the lawn care business in Missouri for over a decade. He now focuses on growing sales in the United States and in Europe.
