CLASS Fund Pays Off

Washington, D.C. – The LAF/California Landscape Architectural Student Scholarship Fund has initiated its scholarship program by making available three $2,000 prizes to landscape students for the upcoming academic year. Full-time students enrolled at the Pomona and San Luis Obispo branches of California Polytechnic University, and those individuals participating in the extension programs at UCLA and UCI are eligible for these financial prizes. The grants will be given to those students in need who show promise and commitment to the profession of landscape architecture.

The CLASS Fund was established in 1983 to contribute to the educational advancement of the industry through grants to deserving students and academic programs in landscape oriented fields of study in southern California. In addition to its educational objectives, the CLASS Fund is striving to improve inter landscape industry communication and to support the activities of related professional organizations.

“We are extremely pleased to announce the availability of these financial prizes,” notes 1986 CLASS Fund Chairman, Robert R. Cardoza, “and would like to encourage all eligible students to apply for the grants. CLASS Fund members have generated a great deal of support and enthusiasm for our objectives in recent years, and we are looking forward to expanding our scholarship program in years to come.”

The Washington D.C.-based Landscape Architecture Foundation will administer the grant process, for which applications must be postmarked by October 10, 1986. The awards will be presented by the Foundation at the annual meeting of the American Society of Landscape Architects, to be held November 2225 in San Francisco. The Landscape Architecture Foundation, which is celebrating its twentieth year of service to the profession, is a charitable educational and scientific research organization.
