The International Erosion Control Association (IECA) has put out a call for papers for their twentieth annual conference, February 16, 17, 1989 in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Experts from around the world will be gathering in the scenic port city of Vancouver to present and exchange information about one of today’s most important environmental concerns, the control of erosion. You are cordially invited to submit a paper on any aspect of the erosion control industry which is pertinent to the current erosion problems, solutions and management.

Prepare a brief description of the contents of the paper you would like to present, and submit it together with your name, address and phone number to Massimo Ciarla, Maccaferri Gabions West Coast, Inc., PO Box 410, West Sacramento, California, 95691, 916-371-5805. Abstracts should not exceed 400 words in length.

J.T. Dunkin & Associates, Inc., a Texas?EUR??,,????'??+based landscape architecture and planning firm, recently received the park design excellence award from the Texas Recreation and Park Society for Central Park in Lewisville, Texas. Located in a flood plain, the park was sighted for its sensitive blending of park elements around existing trees and topographic conditions. Bob Stoffels, ASLA, was the project designer.

LAF/CLASS Fund of Southern California is in its third year of providing financial assistance and fellowships to qualified junior and senior landscape architectural students currently enrolled in the baccalaureate programs at the two California State Polytechnic University campuses at Pomona and San Luis Obispo and two extension programs at the University of California campuses of Irvine and Los Angeles.

Two students from each of the four campuses named are eligible for full fellowships to the SCC/ASLA Fall Conference held at Lake Arrowhead. The fellowships cover each chosen participant’s room, board, and registration costs. Selection criteria is determined by the faculty from the individual colleges or universities.

Two $2,000 scholarships are given to full-time students currently enrolled at one of the aforementioned four schools. Students may obtain applications from their curriculum department office or the Landscape Architectural Foundation in Washington, D.C., 714-997-3233.
