O’Brien/Atkins Associates’ leadership commitment to sustainability continues with firm principals Eric J. Erickson, AIA, director of science and technology, and Jay W. Smith, RLA, ASLA, director of landscape architecture/panning, becoming U.S. Green Building Council Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) accredited professionals. In addition, intern architect Steven B. Harris, Associate AIA, has also become a LEED accredited professional. Currently in its thirty-fourth year of practice, O’Brien/Atkins is currently designing the State of North Carolina’s premier sustainable design project to date, the Green Square Complex, to be located in Downtown Raleigh.
Mundus Bishop Design, Inc., a Denver, Colorado landscape architecture and planning firm, announced the promotion of Robyn Bartling, ASLA and Stacey Stickler, ASLA to associate positions. Ms. Bartling joined Mundus Bishop Design in 2004 after working in both the private and governmental sectors as a landscape architect.

Raphael Thomas Justewicz is currently a senior associate with EDAW/AECOM in New York City. In this capacity he provides design overview for this flagship office on the East Coast.
LandMark Design Studio, LLC announced its emergence as one of the newest landscape architecture firms serving the southeast. Founders Jason Smith and Paul Pennell, graduates of Clemson University, have partnered to combine their expertise in landscape architecture, land planning, thematic design branding and graphic design. Located in Charlotte, North Carolina, LandMark Design Studio encompasses all facets of design from residential to office, retail and commercial.
Derck & Edson Associates announced the publication of Educational Environments. Four (4) of the firm’s projects are featured in this latest publication. The featured projects are: the Campus Commons at Alvernia University (Reading, PA); the Urban Environmental Park at Birmingham Southern College (Birmingham, AL); West Village at Susquehanna University (Selinsgrove, PA); and the Academic Quad at Bloomsburg University (Bloomsburg, PA).
Environmental design firm Ervin Lovett Miller (ELM) announced the addition of Brittany Bourgault to its administrative team. She will be working in the firm’s Jacksonville office as an administrative assistant. Bourgault recently earned a Bachelor of Science degree in landscape architecture from the University of Florida. She has completed two internships at landscape architecture firms in Naples and Jacksonville.
Outdoor Lighting Perspectives (OLP), has hired Karin Harrison and Jane Walker as business relationship managers with primary responsibility for the new preferred referral partnership program, designed to obtain referral trade partners in the outdoor living category. Harrison and Walker will collaborate with OLP franchisees to identify and cultivate partnerships with the ultimate goal of growing leads.
Jeffrey L. Bruce, FASLA, LEED, ASIC, owner & managing member of Jeffrey L. Bruce & Company, LLC, a Kansas City, Missouri-based landscape architecture firm, has been named Chair of Green Roofs for Healthy Cities (GRHC). Jeff is a lead instructor of GRHC seminars and has been the Chair of the Training and Accreditation Committee for the past four years where he has worked to develop the Green Roof Professional (GRP) accreditation for the North American green roof industry.
Randy Graham, a water resources engineer in the PBS&J Omaha office, served on a task committee that has received the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Environmental and Water Resources Institute (EWRI) task committee excellence award. Graham co-chaired the technical committee, which was charged to provide a forum for engineers and scientists to investigate and disseminate knowledge on the use and application of WSR-88D Doppler radar data to estimate surface rainfall in operational flood prediction, basin runoff model calibration, and rainfall reconstitution.
