Dave Lockett has been appointed regional sales manager for the Richdel Turf Irrigation Division according to Rex Dixon, general manager. Lockett will be servicing the Pacific Northwest from San Francisco through Washington. He has been with the company since 1981 and has worked his way up through several positions, including customer service manager and Southern California district sales manager.
Dr. J. Anne Holman, ASLA, Professor John T. Lyie, ASLA, and Professor Robert C. Perry, ASLA, from the School Of Environmental Design at Cal Poly Pomona were asked by the Regional Government of Lombardia to conduct a four day seminar in Milan, Italy. The conference which was part of a three week International Conference was attended by more than 200 city planners and landscape architects.
David Dunn has joined Netafim Irrigation as their Pacific Northwest Sales representative. Dunn brings with him 15 years experience including design and engineering of drip and microsprinkler projects. The new sales office is located at 624 Yakina, #1, Wenatchee, WA 98801, 509-6636618.
Ann Hoch has been appointed Industrial Marketing Coordinator for the Turf Division Of Rain Bird Sales, Inc. Hoch will assist in the administration of the marketing program and in the development of new products.
Tom Gentile, Gentile and Associates has been appointed the master sales representative for the Le Muer Safegaurd line of irrigation equipment security enclosures. This move coincides with the introduction of their new Safeguard line of enclosures and also with their move to new facilities in Fontana, California. Robert Sawyer, founder of Santa Ana-based Land Concern LTD, was recently appointed to the board of directors of the Landscape Architecture Foundation (LAF). Sawyer is the Co-founder and former chairman of Southern California’s LAF affiliate and has helped the local group’s endowment grow to over $110,000.
Glenn Greene has been appointed area specification manage for the Turf Division ofRain Bird Sales, INC. Greene works closely with landscape architects, irrigation consultants and city and county officials, assisting with product application and design. Additionally, he lectures at design school and universities. His territory is the Rocky Mountain and Pacific Northwest region, which includes the states of Alaska, Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington, Wyoming and a portion of western Texas .
Arthur G. (Gary) Beggs, a senior principal with the Peridian Group, has received Cal Poly Pomona’s 1986 Distinguished Alumnus Award from the School of Environmental Design. Beggs graduated from Cal Poly in 1958 and after two years in the Army, he joined Peridian Group (called then, Courtland Paul & Associates) in 1960. The company, has offices in Irvine and San Diego, Calif., Ft. Lauderdale, Texas and Las Vegas, Nevada. Beggs’ notable projects include the Ritz Carlton Hotels, Laguna Niguel, Calif., and Naples, Fla. and the Marriott World Center Resort, Orlando, Fla.
Delancey Carey has been named central states specification sales manager for The Toro Company. Carey’s duties include establishing working relationships with landscape architects and irrigation designers in a nine-state area, as well as working closely with distributors as a factory liaison.
Glenn Zwart has been appointed regional sales manager for the Richdel Turf Irrigation Division. Zwart’s territory covers the states of Arizone, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, New Mexico, Utah and Wyoming. His responsibilities include providing sales support to Richdel distributors, conducting service and training seminars and serving as a link between Richdel management and distributors, irrigation consultants and contractors located within his territory.
Richard B. Myrick, FASLA has been given the 1986 Distinguished Creative Activity Award from The University of Texas at Arlington. Myrick, chairman of the board of Myrick-Newman-Dahlberg & Partners, Inc., landscape architects and urban & development planners, was honored for his landscape architectural design work at The LBJ Ranch, Dallas Fair Park and City Hall, D/FW International Airport, Big Bend National Park, Reunion/Hyatt Regency and many other projects. Myrick is also the founder of the Landscape Architecture program at UTA.
Gloria Stultz has been appointed regional sales manager in Northern Calif. for Hunter Industries, a San Marcos-based manufacturer of irrigation equipment for turf, landscape and public areas. Stultz will be serving 22 northern California counties from Shasta to Santa Barbara.
Daniel J. Cleland, ASLA, has been appointed Vice President of Cella Barr Associates, Phoenix, Arizona. A Scottsdale resident, Cleland will be heading up the firm’s Landscape Architecture and Planning Department. He brings with him over 10 years experience in landscape architecture and planning for commercial, residential, and recreational facilities.
Richard Kopperud is now the field servicing supervisor of all Rain Bird Golf Course Irrigation Products in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North and South Carolina, and Tennessee. Richard brings with him a solid background in computers as well as some experience in the landscape industry.
Bob Williams has been promoted to Chief Estimator for Landform Industries, a major landscape construction firm in Orange, California. Bob has been with the company for five years and attributes his success to his great attention to detail and accuracy. Having spent the last 15 years in the green industry he started out coordinating plant material for the S.S. Norway our of Miami, Florida. He is an avid athlete and Tri-athlete and is also working on a degree in Ornamental Horticulture.
Alan Jones has joined Bergen Nurseries as its Marketing Director. Alan brings with him several years experience in the landscape trade including work for Fison Western Corp., O.M. Scott and Sons, Burpee Seed Company, and the Ferry Morse Seed Company. Jones will supervise marketing programs and sales in Los Angeles, Ventura, Northern California and Nevada, and will call on landscape architects, contractors and real estate developers.
James Franklin of Jl Construction was recently congratulated by Oceanside Mayor Larry Bagley for his Landscape Beautification Award from the local chapter of the CLCA. Franklin’s company won the award for its Venezia Sul Mare apartment project in Oceanside, California.
The Womens Auxiliary To The California Landscape Contractors Association awarded $2,700 in scholarship money at a summer Tri-Board meeting to five deserving students. Todd Coward, Karen Loene, Dan Martinez, and Donald Scholl were the recipients from Cal Poly SLO and Michelle Harmeier was the recipient from Cal Poly Pomona. The CLCA has distributed approximately $29,250 to 59 students since the inception of its scholarship program in 1972.
