Legacy Forum Leaders

She is a licensed landscape architect and a U.S. Green Building Council LEED AP designer; Peter Adams, Principal, has developed and trained staff in project management tools and is leading implementation of Legacy metrics; Pam Britton, Principal, Pam has led development of the firm?EUR??,,????'???s Design University and Steven Spears, Associate, Steven is an award-winning designer and speaker who has worked on notable projects such as Little Nell, Aspen, Colorado; Yorktown Downtown, Indiana; Landwell New Community, Henderson, Nevada; and Arches National Park Transportation Plan, Moab, Utah.

Quorum Architects, of Milwaukee, has designed a building for The Bruce Company of Wisconsin, a full-service landscaping firm, which will include ?EUR??,,????'??green?EUR??,,????'?? features such as a metal roof; exterior finishes using local recycled materials and a rain garden to control storm runoff. This property will help The Bruce Company to better serve their customers and provides them with room for expansion

Stacey L. Barr


Stacey L. Barr, of Harvey Design Land Architects in Lynchburg, has been appointed to membership on the National CAD Standard (NCS) Project Committee. This 83-member, nation-wide committee is responsible for developing future revisions of the NCS. Mr. Barr marks the fifth landscape architecture firm represented, and the sixth person from Virginia to serve on the committee. The NCS is a consensus standard, incorporating industry publications, and is used by the Army Corp of Engineers many architectural, engineering and construction design firms and manufacturers to create cross-platform CADD drawings in a standardized manner.

American Ramp Company has finalized the acquisition of Solo Ramps, a former competitor located in Quebec, Canada. Solo products are made of pre-cast concrete, which will now be produced in ARC?EUR??,,????'???s Joplin facility. ARC is completing construction of a 16,000 sq. ft. building expansion that will house this concrete casting operation. With the addition of the Solo Ramps product line, ARC will be the only major skate ramp producer in the world able to construct skateparks surfaced with steel, phenolic sheets, and/or concrete.

WilsonMiller, Inc. has recently retained the services of structural engineering and bridge design professional, Ralph Verrastro, P.E., to enhance the firm?EUR??,,????'???s structural capabilities in transportation and land development services. Mr. Verrastro has been appointed to lead structural engineering group. Offering more than three decades of structural engineering experience, and specializes in the design, inspection, technical supervision, and quality control for new and rehabilitation bridge projects. WilsonMiller, Inc. is a multidisciplinary planning, design, and engineering firm with a history of more than 50 years in professional consulting.

Yanmar America Corporation moved their corporate headquarters from the Chicago area to Adairsville, Ga. According to Yanmar America?EUR??,,????'???s recently appointed COO, Tom Calhoun, this new complex will house manufacturing, engineering, marketing and administration activities supporting North American business, including the construction, agricultural and marine divisions. The Adairsville facility, situated an hour north of Atlanta, will include enough acreage to continue expansion. This corporate relocation coincides with the opening of the new Yanmar/Cub Cadet manufacturing facility at the same location.

Basham & Lucas Design Group is pleased to announce Vanessa Haynes and Paul Jacobs have been accredited by the U.S. Green Building Council as LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) accredited professionals. LEED is the U.S. Green Building Council?EUR??,,????'???s flagship program that has set the national standard for determining what constitutes a green building. Based on scientific standards, LEED emphasizes both state-of-the-art as well as common sense design and construction strategies that conserve natural resources.

Shannon & Wilson, a Seattle-based geotechnical and environmental firm, has acquired Van Beveren & Butelo, a Los Angeles, California, and geotechnical engineering company. The acquisition expands Shannon & Wilson?EUR??,,????'???s geographic reach into Southern and Northern California. The company will retain the Van Beveren & Butelo name while Jim Van Beveren and Jeff Butelo continue to lead the firm. Travis Deane, senior geotechnical engineer from Shannon & Wilson joins the leadership team.






Larry Reed


Sausalito landscape architect SWA Group builds living roof at the California Academy of Sciences in San Francisco. Designing the roof was a natural for the SWA Group. Larry Reed, a principal at SWA says the 2.5-acre living roof design and the redesign of gardens to the east and west of the building took extensive research and work with biologists, arborists and botanists. The 50-year-old company had designed a planted roof previously, did the master plan for the Gate National Recreation Area and has been at the forefront in creating projects that are in harmony with the land and natural systems.

Sol Inc. (Solar Outdoor Lighting), the world leader in solar LED outdoor lighting, announced that its recently released energy efficient LED lighting fixtures were installed to light the National Flag Monument Plaza in Lima, Peru. The Sol LED luminaires were installed in time to brightly illuminate a patriotic celebration at the National Plaza, which attracted numerous visitors during Peru?EUR??,,????'???s recent national holiday.
