Sunny Slope Trees announces the addition of Denise La Secla to its’ Sales Staff. She will be covering the Los Angeles, San Gabriel, and Ventura areas. Denise comes to Sunny Slope Trees with over eight years experience in the landscape and construction industry.

Sunny Slope Trees has been in business for over 10 years and along with its’ sister company, Redland Trees has over 140 acres in production.






Lisa Pierce


Environmental Images, a landscape architectural design and planning company in Orange, CA announces that Lisa Pierce has joined the firm as a Principal.

Pierce has a B.S. degree in Landscape Architecture from Cal Poly Pomona and has had five years experience in the field. She will be involved with client contacts and project marketing and initiation, as well as landscape design.

The HLA Group, Sacramento based landscape architects and planners, announces that John H. Nicolaus has become a licensed landscape architect in the state of California. Nicolaus is a project manager and handles the firm’s marketing endeavors.

The Wilkins Regulator Division of Zurn Industries, Inc., designer and manufacturer of Water Control Products including water pressure regulators and backflow preventers, announces the appointment of Patrick O. Brighella as National Sales Manager for Wilkins Drainage.

In his new position, Brighella will be responsible for sales and marketing functions of the Wilkins Drainage representatives nationwide, including sales training and customer relations.

Richard Gleitsman has been appointed President and General Manager of Garden America, a division of Black & Decker’s Hardware & Home Improvement Group headquartered in Carson City, Nevada.

As President and General Manager, Gleitsman has full operating responsibility for the Black & Decker subsidiary, a leading designer and manufacturer of in-ground automatic watering systems, which does business in the U.S., Europe and Australia.

The HLA Group, a Sacramento based landscape architectural and planning firm is pleased to announce the addition of David A. Fletcher to its staff. Fletcher, a graduate of California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, will act as the firm’s water resource specialist and provide irrigation system design, water use calculation and arboricultural services to the firm’s clients.






Gregory Duckworth


Wood and Partners, Inc., a Hilton Head Island, South Carolina land planning and landscape architectural firm, announces that Gregory Duckworth has joined the staff as a landscape architect. Duckworth will have design and planning responsibilities for numerous key projects.

Duckworth was previously in charge of landscape architectural and land planning services with Castles Consulting Engineers, Inc. of Myrtle Beach, SC. Some of his significant projects there included master planning Phase II of the Long Bay Club and master planning Myrtle Palms Plantation, a tournament play golf community in the Myrtle Beach area.

The American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) has named Tommy Holmes as its Media Relations Manager, a new position. Holmes is the contact person for reporters with questions regarding the landscape architect profession or activities and positions of ASLA. Before coming to the organization, he was press secretary for U.S. Rep. Chip Pashayan of California. He has also been a reporter for Knight-Ridder Financial News in Washington and a regional reporter, farm writer and section editor for the Waco Tribune-Herald in Waco, Texas.

Graul has a Bachelor of Science in Landscape Architecture from Texas A & M University and is a registered Landscape Architect in California and Texas. She is the 1989 Secretary for the San Diego Chapter of the ASLA and co-chairperson of the Chapter’s 1989 Garden Tour.

As central control specialists, Wolfarth and Tullos supply irrigation consultants and specifiers with detailed information about Maxicom, Rain Bird’s powerful computerized control system for multiple site irrigation projects. Areas of primary responsibility include setup and applications, how to maximize the advantages of central control and how Maxicom works with sensor devices and other components in an irrigation system.

Germain’s, Inc. has appointed Tracy Barcelona to its Turf Seed sales staff with responsibility for the Southern California area. As a turf specialist he will direct his efforts toward the golf course, landscape contracting and municipality industries.

Barcelona was previously associated Agricultural Pest Control as Area Manager, turf specialist/sales with Target Specialty Products and sales representative for B. Hayman Co.
