Leslie Swarz-Mahieu has joined the engineering, architectural and planning firm, Booker Associates, Inc., as a Landscape Architect. The St. Louis, MO-based firm also has added Eric J. Ploch to its civil engineering department.








The HLA Group, a Sacramento-based Landscape architecture and planning firm, is pleased to announce the addition of King C. Leong to its staff. Leong, a graduate of Michigan State University is a Californiaregistered Landscape Architect and will be a project manager for the firm.

KTU+A, a San Diego, CA-based Landscape Architects and Planners, has named Pat Higgenbotham as principal. Higgenbotham was a designer with the firm from 1972 to 1978, and rejoined the firm in 1984 as an associate after receiving a B.S. in Architecture from U.C. Berkeley. He is a member of ASLA and a California registered Landscape Architect.

David Trueblood recently has joined the Irvine, CA-based landscape architectural firm, Tatsumi & Partners, in the position of Senior Project Manager. Mr. Trueblood’s responsibilities will include managing and coordinating design/graphic efforts and meeting and building upon the strong reputation of the design team.

New Faces at Springtime Growers

Springtime Growers Wholesale Nursery in Del Mar, CA has appointed five new members to its management staff to better serve the needs of its customers.

Paul Oberhaus is the new vice president of sales. As the former owner of Greentree Nursery in Phoenix, AZ, Paul joins the Springtime team with the merger of the two companies.

John Yots, formerly with Bell Helmets and Wilson Sporting Goods, is vice president of operations. John brings to Springtime a strong background in finance, distribution, inventory management, manufacturing and quality control.

Dennis Bahen is the new director of corporate communications, a newly created department within the Springtime organization. Dennis is a former horticulture teacher and instructional media developer. He will direct communications within and outside the company, as well as produce computer and media products for the nursery industry.

Chris MacLaggan is Springtime’s retail sales manager. He spent his first four years at Springtime as a sales representative before promotion to his new position.

Joe Tice fills the customer service manager’s position at Springtime, bringing fifteen years’ experience to Springtime….

Laurel Goddard has been appointed communications assistant for the California Landscape Contractors Association. She is responsible for producing CLCA’s monthly newsletter and news releases under the supervision of Communications Director Larry Rohifes.






David Hanson


Bruce K. Wilson, president of Environmental Care, Inc., has announced the appointment of David L. Hanson to the position of Manager of Technical Support for the firm. Hanson is a certified professional agronomist with ARCPAC, a California pest control adviser and president of the Bay Area chapter of the California Agricultural Production Consultants Association. Hanson will be responsible for the company’s regulation and legal compliance as well as its technical training and pest management program. He also will edit the company’s technical newsletter and will be a contributing writer to the company’s client newsletter.
