Pat D. Taylor, director of the University of Texas Arlington?EUR??,,??s program in landscape architecture, has been awarded the Merit Award for achieving ?EUR??,,??remarkable works for CIGR, the International Commission of Agricultural Engineers.?EUR??,,?? Taylor has served as director of UT Arlington?EUR??,,??s landscape architecture program since 1992.

The board of directors of JMT is announced that Jon S. Conner, RLA, AICP has been promoted to vice president of the Sparks, Md. office. Conner holds a bachelor?EUR??,,??s degree in horticulture from the University of Maryland and a master?EUR??,,??s degree in landscape architecture from Morgan State University. He is a registered landscape architect in Maryland and Pennsylvania as well as a certified planner.

Recently New York native and Vermont resident Craig Rankin received a lifetime achievement award from the Vermont Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA). The award was presented to Rankin by Patrick McClean, a landscape architect with the local firm Stantec and president of the Vermont Chapter of the ASLA.

Smith & Associates, Inc., a civil engineering, planning, surveying, landscape architecture, GIS and 3D visualization consultants has added Amy Schneider as landscape architect. Schneider has a bachelor?EUR??,,??s degree in natural resources and a master?EUR??,,??s degree in landscape architecture from the University of Michigan.

Members of the Connecticut Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects have elected Aris W. Stalis of the BSC Group/TerraSphere (Glastonbury) as the new president and Brian Robinson of Keith Simpson Associates (New Canaan) as the president elect to serve on its 2006-07 executive committee, the main governing body of the 250-member organization.

Burgess & Niple also welcomes Roumen Lefterov, PE, LEED AP, as a senior project manager in the Maryland office. Lefterov brings nearly 10 years of experience managing projects ranging from site design for private developments, to utility infrastructure improvements for municipalities throughout Maryland. He earned his BS in civil engineering from the University of Maryland.

Whitner Kane has joined ColeJenest & Stone, P.A., a 60-person firm Charlotte-based firm, which also operates in Raleigh, N.C., as a site designer I. She received her bachelor of science in environmental design and master of landscape architecture degrees from Auburn University.

Takanori Taira, a designer with the San Francisco Office, recently joined Horton Lees Brogden Lighting after graduating from Pennsylvania State University with an integrated bachelor/master?EUR??,,??s degree in architectural engineering with a minor in architecture and peace studies. He is a native of Tokyo, Japan and is fluent in both Japanese and English.

Land Design announced that Peter Crowley would become the firm?EUR??,,??s president as of January 1, 2007. Crowley has been with the firm for 27 years and was the founder and managing partner of LandDesign?EUR??,,??s Washington, DC office. He has been leading the efforts to create opportunities in Asia, including opening the firm?EUR??,,??s Beijing office.

She received her bachelor of science degree in education from Winthrop University.
