Thomas Farmer

Thomas Farmer, a CLARB certified landscape architect with more than 27 years of experience working in Kansas, New Hampshire and Maine, has joined Wright-Pierce, a multidisciplinary environmental consulting firm serving public and private clients throughout the Northeast. His work includes institutional, municipal, residential and commercial site planning and design, as well as recreation planning and trail design.

Tom Tavella

Alta Planning + Design announced that Tom Tavella, Immediate Past President of ASLA, has joined the firm. He is a national leader in landscape architecture and urban design, bringing more than 25 years of experience to Alta, with a diverse portfolio of award-winning projects across the U.S. Tavella takes pride in designing and assisting communities in developing healthy, sustainable, and more livable places.

Galen Drake

Galen Drake started his presidency of ASLA Arizona chapter in November, leading a team of local planning and design professionals on education, volunteerism and outreach efforts across the state. In 2013, AzASLA also named him as Arizona Landscape Architect of the Year. A member of Stantec's Phoenix office, Drake was recognized for his 30+ years of industry experience on important Arizona projects.

RVi Planning + Landscape Architecture, a 32-year old firm with offices in Austin and Houston, announced today that it has acquired the Dallas-based landscape architecture firm of Newman, Jackson, Bieberstein, Inc. For both firms, the acquisition represents a return to their roots. RVi CEO Bob Richardson, NJB president Rowland Jackson, and NJB senior vice president Karl Von Bieberstein all worked together previously under the firm of MND Partners in the 1970s and 1980s. Richardson left MND to start his own practice in 1982, while Jackson and Von Bieberstein remained with MND and eventually reorganized the firm under the NJB name in 1990.

Michael Chalona

Logan Simpson Design Inc. announced that Michael Chalona joined its Fort Collins, Colo. office as a senior associate. Chalona is a registered landscape architect in five states, and brings 21 years of experience and leadership in sustainable design and construction. He is experienced in project, contract and consultant management; real estate development; project permitting; and is considered an expert in land use and zoning codes.

Jeff Trojanowski

BMLA Landscape Architecture, a Southern California-based landscape architecture firm is pleased to announce the arrival of Jeff Trojanowski, Landscape Architect. Trojanowski comes to BMLA with more than 10 years of experience in the profession. He brings with him significant knowledge and insight as a certified arborist and registered landscape architect.

Kevin Spence has been appointed vice president, business development North America. Andreea Dutescu has joined the company as vice president strategy and international business development. In his new position Spence will be responsible for business growth in North America with a strong focus on the development and support of the company's outside sales team and channel. He had served as the company's General Manager for the Western and Texas Operations since 2011. Dutescu will be responsible for the company's international business strategy and growth. She brings more than 20 years' experience in senior level positions in start-ups to international organizations. Her experience spans across the manufacturing, aviation, aerospace, luxury, and retail industries.
