The American Society of Landscape Architects set the goal of all 50 states and Washington D.C. having licensure laws in effect by 2010. As it stands, 38 states have practice acts, nine states have title acts, while three states and D.C. do not have any licensure laws.
Vermont?EUR??,,????'??? The Vermont chapter submitted its application for licensure of the landscape architecture profession to the Office of Professional Regulation on July 1, 2003.
Colorado?EUR??,,????'??? Colorado landscape architects went before the state legislature in 2003; however, the attempt at licensure failed, but advocates are revamping their approach with plans to return to the legislature in 2004.
New Hampshire?EUR??,,????'??? Current plans indicate New Hampshire landscape architects will pursue licensure before the state board in 2004.
According to the ASLA, 13 states have given dates for sunset review.
