Dear Editor: I am an artist/designer with a book contract to write about outdoor showers. I am interested in locating architects who have designed exceptional outdoor showers in North America. The book will feature photographs and plans of these outstanding showers. Would you be willing to guide my search by suggesting ways to identify and make contact with such people?

Unprecedented Development in New Zealand
When you think of New Zealand, you think open spaces, few people (more sheep that people) and magnificent vistas. However, conservationists, land developers, and landscape architects are debating how to protect New Zealand’s pristine beauty from increasing development. A conference in Auckland has been organized by the Environmental Defense Society (EDS), which deems the increase in development a crisis requiring government action.
The EDS views the Auckland’s Waitakere Ranges as an example of the ever increasing encroachment of development on the wilderness. More than 800 new sections have been created or are proposed for development in and around the ranges, despite the existence of a ?EUR??,,????'??green council.?EUR??,,????'??
?EUR??,,????'??Aquascape Solutions for Stormwater Management and Treatment,?EUR??,,????'?? the cover story in our July 2003 issue, as noted, was authored by Bruce Phillips, but was not further identified. Mr. Phillips is the vice president of stormwater management for Pacific Advanced Civil Engineering, Inc. (PACE), based in Fountain Valley, Calif., (714) 481-7300; bphillips@p-a-c-e.com.
?EUR??,,????'??One does not know whether to laugh or cry. Initially I am shocked that people from other disciplines think they can move into landscape architecture without any qualifications in that field.?EUR??,,????'?? – Richard Weller.
Mr. Weller, director of landscape architects of the National Museum of Australia, was replying to criticisms that his team?EUR??,,????'???s work on the museum courtyard should be more inviting, educational, and introduce themes from the exhibits into the area.
