Hitchcock Design Group announced that Steve Wilson has joined the firm as a senior associate, augment in it's planning and urban design practice across all markets. He comes with a wealth of experience, having spent the last two years with AECOM Chicago, and the previous 14 years with Sasaki Associates, where he served as lead planner and project manager for a wide range of master planning projects across the country and abroad. Wilson is a certified planner and registered architect, and brings over 20 years of experience working with municipal, institutional and private sector clients.

Barbara Cianci Horton



Barbara Cianci Horton is a senior principal at Horton Lees Brogden Lighting Design Inc. She has received recognition for her 30+ years in the lighting design industry with an election into the College of Fellows in the International Association of Lighting Design. Horton was also elected IALD president-elect 2013 and will become president in January 2014-2015. She's excited about this opportunity to lead a professional association at this time because the lighting design profession has become an essential element of A/E/C and landscape architectural projects.

Adam Jones



Adam Jones joined BioNova???(R)???AE???? Natural Pools in 2012 and now has been promoted to head of NSP Design and Public NSP Operations. He is a graduate of North Dakota State University having earned a bachelor of science degree in environmental design and a bachelor of landscape architecture. He is an associate member of ASLA and a former Minnesota Design Team member. Professionally, Adam shows true dedication to green methodologies, including natural swimming pools, in support of environmental issues.

Ester Wang



Ester Wang has been hired as an assistant designer with RGA Landscape Architects, Inc. She has received a bachelor of urban planning degree from Beijing Forestry University and a master of landscape architecture degree from University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana. In addition to her academic background, Wang has already gained experience with a career in urban master planning and landscape design across a wide range of project types, including hospitality and resort, mixed-use, and high-end residential projects. Since joining RGA, she has provided design and technical support for a series of international and local projects and aspires to face the challenges in the practice by challenging herself in each of her designs with RGA.

SAA Design Group landscape architects Blake Theisen and Aaron Williams accepted the Wisconsin Chapter of ASLA award at the spring conference accompanied by North Lakeland Discovery Center executive director Sarah Johnson.



SAA Design Group was recently awarded the top honors from the Wisconsin Chapter of ASLA for the North Lakeland Discovery Center Master Plan (Planning & Analysis Category). The Discovery Center is located in northern Wisconsin (Manitowish Waters). Development of the master plan recommendations provided the center with a near and long term vision for growth and rejuvenation of the facilities. "The goal of the plan was to create a visionary, implementation oriented document to guide the Center's future," said Blake Theisen, landscape architect for the firm. "The award really belongs to the dedicated facility staff who provide amazing opportunities for the community everyday."

John Royster



John Royster, president and CEO of Omaha-based Big Muddy Workshop, Inc., accepted two awards for planning and analysis projects: Hidden Valley Park Natural Area master plan and Spring Lake Park Green Infrastructure master plan at 2013 Central States ASLA Conference in St. Louis, Missouri. Kansas City, Mo. Parks & Recreation Department is implementing the Hidden Valley Park Natural Area Master Plan, which creates public access to a significant natural area. The Spring Lake Park Green Infrastructure Master Plan uses an innovative approach to comply with USEPA Clean Water regulations.

Planning Design Studio was recently recognized for its outstanding design efforts on two projects in the St. Louis metropolitan area. Both the Forest Park Dual Path Amenities Plan and the O'Fallon, Ill. Family Sports Park Spray Ground received Honor Awards from the St. Louis Chapter of ASLA in February 2013. The Forest Park Dual Path Amenities plan developed for Forest Park Forever was focused on improving amenities along the park's perimeter dual path trail system. The O'Fallon, Ill. Family Sports Park Spray Ground is a two acre adventure play area within the 200 acre O'Fallon Family Sports Park.

Planning Design Studio partners Gary Perkins, Geoffrey Van De Riet and Dan Bockert received the O'Fallon Spray Ground Award from O'Fallon Parks' Mary Jeanne Hutchison and Susan Maag, St. Louis Chapter ASLA president.
