For use in Kroy, 3M and Gestetner lettering machines, Pierce?EUR??,,????'???s new lettering cartridge, with its ?EUR??,,????'??Handi- Tab,?EUR??,,????'?? makes loading easier and eliminates ?EUR??,,????'??carbon fingers.?EUR??,,????'?? Pierce and Data Card Corp. have combined forces to produce Ribbon-on-Tape, a new type-on adhesive-backed tape. According to the company, it is longer lasting and harder to smear with less flaking. In addition, the housing keeps tension consistent throughout the tape for precision dispensing.
Koh-l-Noor Rapidograph Refillable Liquid-Ink Plotter Pens consist of the nibs, pen body/adaptors and plotter inks. The nib features a 4mm. metal bushing designed for maximum concentricity for repeatable positioning, according to the company. Three different point tip materials are offered in up to 10 line widths. A hard-chrome stainless steel (white nib) for use on paper or vellum is available along with tungsten carbide for wear on abrasive coated plotting film as well as paper or vellum and the tungsten carbide v-groove is for high-speed plotting above 20 in./sec or for higher contrast and visual blackness.
The Kroy 190 lettering system allows remote operation of its portable keyboard so that work can be done anywhere. Corrections and revisions may be made before printing and there?EUR??,,????'???s a built-in memory for the storage and retrieval of often-done projects. The Kroy 190 comes with a 24-character display and utilizes a variety of type-on-type supplies. It has automatic sequencing and repeat features. Concurrent functioning allows user to type in one project while the system is printing out another. There are 35 typestyles, eight typesizes, 1500 character working memory (edit buffer) and 6000 character nonvolatile memory.
Charvoz has announced 18 new chair models with optimum lumbar support. ?EUR??,,????'??Fluid Motion?EUR??,,????'?? allows the chair to support the body as it shifts position, moving in synchronized unison, pneumatically, according to the company. The seat moves forward and gently downward as the user leans and moves back on the backrest. The backrest can also be locked at any position and the contoured seat will pivot eight degrees downward at front for extra thigh comfort. Choose from five Dralon colors or 100 percent beige wool.
Last month The Landscape Architect & Specifier News surveyed dictation. We looked at handheld recorders, convenient for field work notation, as well as desktop units which included transcribing and dictation models. These office machines are money savers in a big way ?EUR??,,????'??? studies have found it four to seven times faster than longhand and its options are endless. However, an examination of dictation machines would be incomplete without a few words said about central dictation systems ?EUR??,,????'??? the big boosters of productivity.
This office machine is a computerized custom unit that funnels the work to other transcriber and monitor work programs from dictation to finished product. They are generally used where a secretarial ?EUR??,,????'??pool?EUR??,,????'?? serves a group of landscape architects. Traditionally, central dictation systems have been aimed at the high-volume word processing center where there are 40 or so support people who serve 50 to 100 executives.
However, smaller systems have been developed for setups of as few as eight people. The best way to determine whether your office could benefit with this system would be to look at the type and volume of work being processed rather than the size of the organization or number of word processing operators. If you have a staggering volume of paperwork, this system could help streamline your work. Such a system integrates all of the capabilities of the desktop system, including the ability to use a telephone for entering data, and provides an economy of scale that can?EUR??,,????'???t be compared with buying multiple desktop systems.
All central dictation systems use telephone lines, direct-wired or public, to enter dictation. Each system has a central processing unit that uses either cassette tape or endless loop magnetic tape, which operates much like an eight-track tape, for want of a better comparison. And, all systems have some kind of transcription device for output which typically include CRT display and/or printer. You?EUR??,,????'???re looking at a $4000 system, on the low-end?EUR??,,????'??+it?EUR??,,????'???s not for everyone, but neither is anything else that?EUR??,,????'???s the ultimate in its own technology.
