I never really know where the idea for the next commentary will come from. Sometimes it strikes me at 3:00 in the morning, the night before the deadline, sometimes it is planned out weeks or even months ahead of time.

Well, this one came when we were reviewing the possible covers for this Playground issue. We had about 50 choices. As we pulled each one up on the big screen, we couldn't help but be amused by the kids. I mean . . . Isn't that what a playground is really all about?

So, instead of writing about the history or need of playgrounds, or the trends in design, et al., we decided to just show you a few of the images we considered for the cover. Take a close look at the kids in these shots and draw your own conclusions.
