Working with the Pompano Beach Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA), EDSA led a multidisciplinary team of consultants tasked to create a plan for the beach environment and a remodeled streetscape along Florida's Pompano Beach Boulevard. The master plan streetscape and dune enhancement have been the catalyst for a new family feel for this beach community.

  • Manitou Avenue Makeover: Dingy to "Darling'
Manitou Avenue's "road diet" converted four travel lanes to two travel lanes and a center lane for left turns, emergency vehicles and delivery truck parking. The reduction of one traffic lane allowed widening the narrow sidewalks by 6 feet on each side, creating 11 to 12-foot sidewalks for greater pedestrian movement.

  • Rehabbing Historic Murphy Avenue, Sunnyvale, Calif.
The goal of this 76,000 sq. ft. streetscape project was to reorganize the street to better accommodate increased pedestrian traffic, outdoor restaurant seating and civic events. Pavers within the roadway, colored concrete sidewalks, gateway monuments, planters and new site furnishings were among the pedestrian enhancements.

  • The Nevada City Boardwalk on Commercial Street: A Parklet, a Social Experiment
    for a Community Building

Inspired by San Francisco's Pavement to Parks program, the 8 by 60 square foot boardwalk on Commercial Street in Nevada City, Calif., is the repurposing of three parallel parking spaces. Whether or not the boardwalk should stay has become a great source of contention among the local population.
