Victor Stanley welcomed Charlene Vera and Claire McFarland to their growing team of corporate business developers. Vera joined the customer service department in February 2012. After months of training she kicked off her new endeavor as corporate business developer with travel to Nashville early this year. McFarland joined the team in February 2013, bringing with her 20 years of experience in retail, sales and development.
Dallas Park and Recreation board voted unanimously to name Willis Winters, the new director of the park and recreation department. Winters is a 20-year veteran with the department and since 1998 has been assistant director responsible for planning and capital development. He was the co-project director for the department's visionary and nationally recognized long-range development plan, A Renaissance Plan, in 2002.
Villa Landscapes in Oakdale, Burnsville and Maple Grove/Brooklyn Park, Minn., welcomed two new landscape design professionals to its team of landscape architects, designers and installers. John Johnson joins the company as a landscape architect. With both commercial and residential experience, Johnson has designed, managed and overseen large-scale projects from golf courses and national store landscaping to freeway sound wall landscapes and outdoor signage. Rachel Grommersch joins the company with a bachelor of science in landscape architecture from South Dakota State University. She is a Minnesota Nursery and Landscape Association-certified professional. In addition to landscape design, her experience includes native plantscapes, use of sustainable landscape elements for erosion control and other solutions.
Architectural lighting design company Biella Lighting Design celebrated its 5th anniversary. Founded in 2008 by Ella Mills LEED AP, IES, associate IALD, Biella creates elegant, creative commercial and residential design solutions that combine sustainable, energy efficient and functional strategies. Biella is a Women Business Enterprise, Emerging Small Business and Disadvantaged Business Enterprise certified in the state of Oregon.
Stephanie Bersch, RLA, has recently been promoted to associate level at vanderToolen Associates where she had been a senior project manager for the last 10 years. She holds a bachelor of science in landscape architecture and has been licensed since 2002. Bersch has designed, managed and overseen the construction of public and private projects from master planned communities, high density housing, parks. Ben Green achieved state licensure in February, 2012. He holds a bachelors of science in landscape architecture from University of California, Davis. After eight years working within the firm's design studio he was promoted to Associate in 2010. With more than 12 years' experience, mostly focused in the Sacramento Valley region, Green has been responsible for the management, from design through construction, of multiple private and public projects including master planned communities.
Seattle-based landscape architects Gustafson Guthrie Nichol announced that Theater Commons and Donnelly Gardens at Seattle Center has become one of four pilot projects newly certified by the Sustainable Sites Initiative• for its sustainable site design, construction and maintenance. These projects have been recognized by SITES•, an interdisciplinary effort led by ASLA, the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center at The University of Texas at Austin, and United States Botanic Garden. SITES is a voluntary, national rating system for sustainable landscapes of all types, with or without buildings. Certification is based on The Sustainable Sites Initiative: Guidelines and Benchmarks 2009.
TBG Partners, the Austin-based landscape architecture and planning firm, recently promoted Katie Robillard to senior associate and Matt Dawson and Ryan Parr to the title of associate. Robillard joined TBG Partners' Austin office in September 2007. She works on and manages multifaceted projects from planning and initial design phases through construction. Dawson joined the firm in March 2011 and has quickly become an integral team member. He manages complex projects and has diverse experience that includes design, planning, landscape ordinance plans, construction administration, and coordination with clients and consultants. Parr joined the office in January 2009 and works on firm-wide marketing initiatives along with marketing support for each of the firm's offices. In this role he focuses on assignments for marketing collateral and public relations.
