Welcome to the first issue of the next 40 years! The last 40 have been quite a ride.

 
When they first wanted to do something special for this issue, I was all in. Then they said they wanted it to be centered around an interview with me, and I did my best to delay the inevitable. After all, I'm a publisher and a drummer. Two vocations that have you making a lot of noise, but always from the back, so being in the forefront is a bit foreign and uncomfortable. Some of the topics are a bit uncomfortable, as well, but as historians of the profession, LASN has always covered the news of the profession and will continue to do so as long as we can. Even if at times the news is a bit controversial.

We also tried to fact check my ramblings as much as possible, as sometimes the years ran together. Anyways, we hope you enjoy this blast from the past. I'm sure we've left out someone or something that was important, and it's hard to reminisce about people or things from more recent years. So, we all just want to say . . .

Special thanks to everyone who ever responded to the magazine in any form, whether it was a subscription request or a letter disagreeing with something in the magazine. You all are the ones who helped shape LASN into an industry-leading publication and media center. We appreciate all you've done, and we look forward to serving you in the years ahead!
