Town Park Improvements, Bristol, Rhode Island

The Town of Bristol, Rhode Island maintains a public park with beach access on Narragansett Bay. Stormwater from the park's large paved parking lot drained directly into the bay, causing periodic public beach closures and concerns for the bay ecosystem. Bristol, with the assistance of state environmental regulatory agency funding, implemented LID design, including bioretention swales, basins, deep sump catch basins and vegetated buffers.
