Topnotch Resort & Spa, Stowe, Vt.

The Topnotch Resort has completed a $15 million renovation and 7,000-square-foot expansion. The project includes a new guest-arrival lobby and two new restaurants, as well as new outdoor spaces featuring a fire pit, a bridal/entertainment pavilion, a bocce ball court, and seating for restaurant patrons. The resort's parking area has been reconfigured to improve the entry experience, and copper fire basins have been added at the entrance to welcome guests at night. Native stone walls transition between the different levels and are punctuated by plantings and copper fire basins which will provide year round interest.

University of Rhode Island, College of Pharmacy, Kingston, R.I.

The Wellness & Medicinal Plant Garden is a sculptural environment that speaks to the fields of pharmacy, pharmacognosy (medicines derived from nature), geography of Rhode Island and the university setting. The garden forms an entryway to the School of Pharmacy, a visually artistic, inspired space, where garden, sculpture and school interact and overlap. The garden offers a central green, arc wall with a materia medica frieze, Birch Grove with seating pods, and the Medicinal Plant Beds.

Quaker Smith Point Residence, Shelburne, Vt.

This property on Shelburne Farms includes a main house, guest house and barn complex set on 20 acres of rolling meadow and woodland with views of Lake Champlain. In master planning the site, special attention was given to solar orientation, views and utilizing the existing grade change to integrate with the architecture of the main house. Site features include an arrival court, extensive terrace areas on the lakeside, an outdoor kitchen, fire pit, water feature that collects rainwater, Corten steel retaining walls, extensive stone walls and paving.
