Sybil B. Harrington Cactus and Succulent Galleries, Desert Botanical Garden, Phoenix
Oasis Design Group did the walkways, earth sculpting, rockwork and overall planting design for the Cactus and Succulent Galleries. Oasis worked closely with the garden staff to meet its strict display criteria for cacti and succulents, and with nationally acclaimed southwest-based landscape architect Steve Martino, FASLA (Cactus City Design), who provided the architectural and lighting design for the shade structures. Oasis’ innovative and iconic planting design focused on the striking appeal of cactus and succulents grouped en masse, contrasting them in ways not typically done. 2008 Merit Award, Maryland and Potomac ASLA Chapters and 2009 Honor Award, Arizona ASLA Chapter
Justison Landing Mixed-Use Development, Wilmington, Del.
Justison Landing is a 33-acre brownfield. Oasis Design Group planned and designed an urban redevelopment plan for the $500 million project. A high-quality brick and granite plaza is the hub for the residential, retail and commercial areas. More than 2.3 miles of streetscaped sidewalks of brick, concrete and granite were added. Sustainable design practices included removal of soil contaminants, creation of urban plazas and green open spaces, links to the river and other areas of the city to encourage walking, and implementation of stormwater management techniques. Oasis worked with Delaware DOT, Riverfront Development Corp. of Delaware, Rummel, Klepper & Kahl (engineers), Pine Hall Brick, Delaware Brick Co., GrassBusters Landscaping & Irrigation (mason contractor) and Pettinaro Co. (construction manager). BIA 2010 Brick in Architecture Award, Silver Winner, Paving and Landscape Architecture
