Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson (JMT), established in 1971, is a multidisciplinary design and construction services firm employing more than 700 engineers, planners, architects, landscape architects and construction management professionals. JMT maintains 17 offices.

JMT provides consulting services from planning through construction. JMT ranks #99 on the Engineering News-Record’s list of the “Top 500 Design Firms,” and #70 on the “Top 100 ‘Pure’ Designers” list.

JMT’s planners and landscape architects apply best practice expertise for pedestrian and bicycle safety, green space and trail master planning and design of open spaces. The firm focuses on sustainable solutions and environmental responsiveness. The staff includes LEED accredited professionals, and JMT is a member of the U.S. Green Building Council.

 

Bel Air Streetscape, Town of Bel Air, Md.




This design-build streetscape project of a downtown section of Main Street in Bel Air, Md. included reconfiguring street parking, renewal/replacement of utilities and upgrades of pedestrian ways. JMT coordinated and oversaw curb and roadway improvements, enhanced crosswalks, pedestrian facilities, landscape and hardscape treatments, pedestrian lighting, drainage and permit acquisition.
The project required direct coordination between JMT and their design-build partner, the Town of Bel Air, Maryland State Highway Administration, Harford County, Md. American Water Co. and Baltimore Gas and Electric.

Rehoboth Beach Streetscape, Rehoboth Beach, Del.




Rehoboth Avenue was dominated by vehicles, with pedestrians compressed along narrow sidewalks. JMT was responsible for all facets of the one mile-long project, including planning and design of a city office building; relocation of a historic train station building; replacement of utilities and removal of aboveground wires and poles; creation of a public space adjacent to the Boardwalk; establishment of a gateway to the downtown; and extensive landscape installations and transportation improvements for motorists, pedestrians and bicyclists.
2007 Award of Merit for Design/Build, Pennsylvania/Delaware ASLA Chapter 2007 National Recognition Award for Engineering Excellence, American Council of Engineering Companies.
