Cottages at Water’s Edge & Crystal, Thompsonville, Mich.

Tufted grasses soften lines and create focal points between the Cottages at Water’s Edge, a new community of vacation homes. Ornamental grasses move with the wind and create interesting textures amidst other perennial plantings. Sandy Clinton, along with Mark Johnson of Johnson Hill Land Ethics, designed the award-winning landscape to lend a natural, woodsy feel to the property. There are sweeps of lawn and paved paths.
Sandy created a series of streams, ponds and waterfalls between the cottages. 2008 Honor Award, Perennial Plant Association.

Longview Farm, Bethesda, Md.

Longview Farm is an elegant tapestry of majestic old trees, sweeping lawns and extensive carpets of interwoven ground cover beds. A winding driveway ascends to the house, nestled like a jewel box in the lushness of maturing gardens and limestone terraces. The firm was hired to preserve the existing beauty of the property, including 200-300 year old oak, hickory and holly trees, while placing a 12,000-sq. ft. home, limestone terraces, a pavilion, vegetable and herb gardens, large swimming pool and pool house, putting green and walking trails. The firm worked closely with the Steven Muse Architects.
