The Florida Nursery Growers and Landscape Association is mourning the loss of industry pioneer Roy Rood. In a statement, the association notes, ''Roy Rood was a pioneer in Florida's nursery and landscape industry, establishing Rood Landscape Co. in Jupiter, FL as one of Florida's premier landscape businesses. Roy was a believer in the future and offered his company as training grounds for many young people who went on to become landscape industry leaders in their own right.'' The statement continues, ''Roy received countless honors and recognitions for his service to his community and the industry. Highlights include FNGLA's Wendell Butler Award and induction into FNGLA's Hall of Fame. Most recently, Roy was named an honorary member of the American Society of Landscape Architecture (ASLA) in recognition of his many years of influence which provided notable service to the profession of landscape architecture. He was FNGLA President in 1958-59. Preceded in death by his longtime wife Patricia, Roy will be missed by the many, many lives he touched.''
