Initial findings for an LASN nationwide survey looking into the effects of the recent tariffs on the landscape architectural industry show that professionals are split almost evenly on their perspectives, with positive comments trailing less than 9% behind the negative ones. Almost 64% survey takers are Practicing Landscape Architects, followed far behind by contractors (13.63%).

Half of participants stated that they have been or anticipate being affected by the tariffs. Many mentioned that projects had been put on hold or canceled altogether due to the uncertainty regarding long-term pricing estimates. Others mentioned a hiring freeze in the industry.

One participant stated: "While gas is relatively reasonably priced over the last few years and while many products are lower than pandemic peak spikes, people are very price sensitive, services are very high, and landscape materials [...] have still risen steadily every year with no end in sight." Another participant declared that the impact of the coronavirus was much worse, exhibiting a certain confidence standing on the other side of the COVID-19 pandemic.

One survey taker sees a lot of opportunity for Landscape Architects, stating, "As demand grows for sustainable, community-centered design, our profession stands to benefit from a national environment more supportive of domestic development and innovation."
