Landscape Architect Named Outstanding Educator

Gary Robinette, MLA, FASLA

The Council of Educators in Landscape Architecture (CELA) has named Gary Robinette, MLA, FASLA, associate professor of landscape architecture in the school of architecture at the University of Texas in Arlington, the 2005 “Outstanding Educator.” He will receive the award at CELA’s annual conference in Athens, Ga. in September.

Robinette has been a UT Arlington faculty member since 1988 and was program director from 1988 to 1991. He earned his B.S. in landscape architecture and MLA at Michigan State University.

Dr. Pat Taylor, director of the program in landscape architecture program at UT Arlington, said it was a fitting recognition of Robinette’s dedication to the profession and to this institution.”

An author of 19 books, Robinette has served as executive director of the ASLA Foundation and the Center for Landscape Architectural Education and Research.
