LASN has followed the career(s) of Eddie George over the years: as a star running back at Ohio State University, where he studied landscape architecture; winning the Heisman Trophy in 1995; Houston Oilers' first-round draft selection (14th overall pick) in the 1996 NFL Draft (Oilers became the Tennessee Titans); NFL Rookie of the Year in 1996 as the starting tailback; four consecutive Pro Bowls, and one Super Bowl. His ninth and final season was with the Dallas Cowboys. According to the Titans official site, George and Jim Brown are the only NFL running backs to rush for 10,000 yards while never missing a start. Only Walter Payton started more consecutive regular-season games (170) than George (130). A great NFL career by any measure, but especially for a landscape architect! In his post-athletic career, George became a founding partner in EDGE (edgela.com), a team of planners, landscape architects and development consultants, currently with offices in Columbus, Nashville and Toleado. Today, Eddie George has a side career as a judge on a new one-hour reality show from NBC called "American Dream Builders," which premieres Sunday, March 23. George joins designer Nate Berkus (host) and interior designer Monica Pedersen. According to NBC, "American Dream Builders" pits 12 contestants (designers and builders) against one another. Each week, two teams take on a new project and are asked to redesign and renovate the space from the inside out in a matter of days. The designers are expected to produce "sweeping home renovations that bring a fresh, modern sensibility, while remaining true to the home's innate charm and design characteristics." Berkus, George and Pedersen will review the finished work and determine the "winning" team. The losing team, explains NBC, must send one member home. In the finale episode, the last two designers will take on renovations for two impressive Southern California homes.
