CLARB Releases New Short Subjects
FAIRFAX, VA
The Landscape Architectural Registration Boards Foundation has introduced Storm Water Management: Creative Techniques for Detention and Infiltration, the latest addition to the popular Short Subjects for Design Professionals continuing education program. Storm Water Management provides useful techniques for controlling storm water on difficult sites, including storm water management for constrained urban sites and reducing storm water runoff in arid climates. This course also discusses effective ponding and infiltration techniques to reduce runoff and improve water quality. Storm Water Management was made possible by literary contributions from storm water experts from the International Erosion Control Association and the Council of Educators in Landscape Architecture.
Foundation President David Fasser understands the importance of addressing this topic in a manner that anyone, anywhere, can participate in. "Storm water management is an increasingly serious and complex issue essential to the continued development of design professionals; however, most professionals cannot afford to wait for a seminar or conference to come to them. Therefore, the Foundation is providing this quality lesson on storm water issues in a format that can be completed on each individual's terms."
Short Subjects provides structured continuing education activities through correspondence for design professionals. Many jurisdictions regulating Landscape Architecture, architecture and engineering accept Short Subjects for continuing education credit. Fasser added, "By working closely with state registration boards, we are able to ensure that the content and structure of this program adheres to their standards for continuing education." Other courses include Planning and Design for Tourism and Revitalization and Socioeconomic Issues in the Landscape. To order, contact the Foundation at 703-818-1300 or log onto www.clarb.org.
