The 4-acre children's garden brought in the top prize for Hitchcock Design Group by the Illinois Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects at its early December banquet.
The $10.5 million garden opened at the Morton Arboretum in Lisle in September 2005.
Hitchcock Design was the lead consultant and contributed to the concept and design of the garden.
The garden itself, took about a year to build, and includes trees, shrubs, perennials and aquatic plants, as well as an elevated boardwalk, a model farm field and a pond with a model beaver dam.
The staff encourages visitors to explore the site for similar experiences, not just in the children?EUR??,,????'???s area, although the response to the garden has been great.
