Kay Tiller

For the past fifteen years, Kay Tiller has provided excellent public relations consultation for a myriad of clients, including American Airlines, Bomanite Corporation and Raincrest Tool Company.

Kay Tiller’s journalism background began in the tenth grade when she became editor of her high school newspaper. She worked on the Daily Texan and completed her studies at the University of Texas in August, 1946. She then worked on the Laurel Leader Call in Mississippi. During the next 25 years, she continued with small daily and weekly newspapers in the South.

Among her fondest career memories, Kay enjoyed becoming associated with the people of the ASLA. “Since 1981, I have never missed a National ASLA annual meeting,” boasts Kay. “I have a number of friends in the ASLA from all over the country and look forward to seeing them again in Orlando.”

Why did Kay want to have her own PR agency? – “In order to make the same sort of money the men in PR firms were making,” replies Kay. Kay Tiller Public Relations has been in operation since August 1, 1974. Kay’s clients recommended her firm. She proudly states she has never needed to advertise to promote her agency, but has garnered new clients by word of mouth recommendations. “I was working for Clume & Associates and they recommended me to several people and I just started building up from there,” Kay proudly states.

In addition to providing both national and local press for her clients, Kay works as a photojournalist by vocation, and by avocation. She also enjoys writing travel articles. Her many achievements include winning the Women in Communications, Inc., Public Relations (matrix) Award in 1975 and sitting as a member of the Board of Directors for the Dallas Press Club. She also is Associate Editor of Special Projects for LASN.

According to LASN Publisher, George Schmok, “When we first started to add national circulation to the magazine, one of the first people we met was Kay Tiller. From that day she has taken us under her wing and opened many a door for the publication. I think Kay has done an outstanding job representing her clients and congratulate her for 15 years of excellent service.”

“The greatest blessing you can have is to love your work,” rejoices Tiller. From the spring in her step to the cheerful “how are you, honey” greeting, one can easily tell that Kay Tiller not only excels in her work... but she loves her work as well.

Congratulations from all of us at LASN!
