Kaiser Permanente's health and wellness philosophy includes a 'Thrive' outdoor environment for visitors and employees.
At the Lutherville site, site amenities include seating with built-in individual work-surface tables, multiple pieces of sculpture, horizontal and vertical paintings, an elevated access and storm water management observation boardwalk, a climbing wall, multi-use picnic tables, and soft artificial turf for play. A special parking pad for food trucks is provided in the main courtyard, and pedestrian areas have underground electric for ice/snow melt.
At the Bowie site, site amenities include a Healing Garden for patients and visitors, sculpture 'Circle of Renewal' by Olusanya Ojikutu, and an Outdoor Community space for patients, employees, and the community. Features include seating for employee lunches and events and direct walks to an adjacent 'town square' shopping center and public County park with paths, pavilions, a pond, athletic facilities, and a playground.
