The Themed Entertainment Association (TEA) has named Busch Gardens?EUR??,,????'?????<???????????????????????(R)?EUR??,,????'???? newest Tampa Bay adventure, Jungala, the best new theme park land for 2008.
MSI Design, an award-winning urban design, landscape architecture and entertainment design firm, provided conceptual design through construction documentation, with collaboration from all three of its offices in Columbus, Ohio, Orlando, Fla., and Pasadena, Calif. Working under the creative direction of Busch Entertainment Co., MSI Design?EUR??,,????'?????<???????????????????????(R)?EUR??,,????'????s Pasadena office was responsible for final planning and design of nonanimal attractions, architecture, interactive exhibits and area development.
Jungala is a four-acre exotic jungle setting complete with towering trees, cascading waterfalls and elaborate stone structures. Jungala features two of the world?EUR??,,????'?????<???????????????????????(R)?EUR??,,????'????s most endangered species?EUR??,,????'?????<????????????????????Bengal tigers and orangutans?EUR??,,????'?????<????????????????????in addition to other animals from India and Southeast Asia. A three-story family climbing area, two thrill rides, water play area, restaurants and gift shop complete the jungle village.
?EUR??,,????'?????<?????????????????Busch Entertainment developed the creative vision and preliminary program for the new attraction,?EUR??,,????'?????<????????????????? explains Larry Wyatt, MSI principal, who heads the Entertainment Design Studio. ?EUR??,,????'?????<?????????????????Our role was to fully develop the concept, create an innovative adventure play environment and define a unique architectural style that embraced the zoological emphasis.?EUR??,,????'?????<?????????????????
Key members of the design team included zoological architect The Portico Group, Seattle, and graphic designer Hunt Design Assoc. of Pasadena.
The Thea Awards will be presented at a formal dinner at the Disneyland Hotel in Anaheim, Calif. on March 7, 2009.
