Created in 1970, CLARB is a nonprofit, international association whose members are the 49 U.S. states, one territory (Puerto Rico) and two Canadian provinces that license landscape architects. The L.A.R.E. is the same in every jurisdiction and administered on the same days and under the same conditions. All exams are uniformly graded by CLARB. The L.A.R.E. consists of five sections: three multiple-choice and two graphic responses. Each section receives a pass or fail score independently from the other sections. Candidates must pass all five sections to be granted licensure.
