Jackson Street Plaza, Dublin, GA

Jackson Street Plaza (Plaza) Redevelopment breathes new life into a space formerly occupied by a dilapidated building and parking area in the heart of downtown Dublin, GA. The City and Downtown Development Authority (DDA) sought to transform the blighted space, which was an eyesore, into an engaging public space.

The goals of the Plaza was to stimulate economic growth and establish a community gathering space in the growing downtown district. The removal of dilapidated buildings made way for pedestrian-scaled elements, such as paver hardscapes, raised boardwalks, fountains, native plantings, seating areas, and swinging benches. Local character and historic elements were incorporated into the design, blending it seamlessly into the landscape. Stormwater, parking, and utility upgrades improved access to the plaza and downtown destinations, while configuring the plaza for the operational needs of existing and future downtown businesses and residences.
