We all forget things, or, on occasion, neglect a detail. Sometimes that detail is inconsequential; other times it can bite you in the butt. Witness Commons Park in Royal Palm Beach, Fla. The Palm Beach Post explains the village's new park was supposed to open July 4, 2012, but was delayed to Dec. 1, then delayed again. Landscaping, irrigation and signage still need to be done. The general contractor is being fined $1,000 day for the overrun. The charges have accumulated to $78,000 as of Jan. 22. Now, it turns out, the landscape architect neglected to include railings for the park's staircases and ramps in the plans. That overlooked detail will keep the park from opening an additional six weeks.
